Help!! Does anyone have a recipe for peach dumplings? I mean like the kind my mother used to make when I was a child. You top them with crushed vanilla wafers, cottage cheese, sugar and melted butter. There used to be a restaurant around my neighborhood called the Dumpling House, but they're gone now. I think it's a Bohemian/Slovak thing. Thanks. Sincerely ~ Lil D.(olelady477)

Hi Lil D. (olelady477),

Here is a recipe you might  like to try.

PEACH DUMPLINGS
Source: Finest Dishes From Near & Far
St. Peter's Ladies Guild, Higganum, CT
Submitted by: Mrs. Anton Sindelar

5 to 6 Peaches
2 cups Flour
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1/4 teaspoon Salt

Wash and dry the peaches.  Mix dry ingredients with enough water to form soft dough.  Roll out on floured board.  Cut in circles large enough to cover whole peaches completely.  Fit dough around peaches.  Drop in boiling water and cook 10 to 15 minutes.
To serve, melt one stick (one half cup) of butter to pour over dumplings.  Sprinkle with mixture of:
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Cottage cheese may also be served with dumplings.  -  Mrs. Anton Sindelar

Note: This recipe did not include the addition of crushed vanilla wafers.  That may have been your Mother's special touch.  I hope this recipe brings back some fond memories for you.
